Take the Book Club bowling, take them bowling

Being that it is Thursday and only Eric and I had expressed interest in bowling this Saturday, I will assume it is not happening. I just added a poll to see when we should have the bowling book club. I thought the 19th/20th weekend was ideal, but we can do it some other time as well. Maybe on a week day when everyone is off for the holidays? So go vote now bitches!

Fellow Wardparklicans, get your vote on for Sat. night Rock 'n' Bowl!

at this time, i have no strong preference but i will vote. keep in mind that most weekdays are league nights, last i checked.

I have a party to attend on Sat. 20th, but if y'all are still rolling I could join afterwards. Looks like the votes are going for Saturday.

Oh, and I'll take May. Book choice to follow.

Saturday night will be the night before my birthday. So, I expect everyone to buy me beer.

The Buchmann's and the Grondahl's went bowling at Ward Parkway Lanes on Saturday for Rock'n'Bowl. Reba and I used to go a lot before we had kids, but we seemed to have forgotten how loud the "Rock" in Rock'n'Bowl was. It was only possible to talk to the person sitting immediately next to you and even then you needed to yell. I'm wondering now if we need to change the venue or change the night. Anyone have any thoughts?

I'm pretty sure the Buchmanns and Grondahls should not have been possesive. Maybe I should have said
"the Buchmann's and the Grondahl's parental units".

The Rock N Bowl doesn't start until 9:30. We could probably roll a game or two before the loud kicks in. I've never been to the other suggested venue...do they have something similar? There is one on Red Bridge and Holmes or 87th and Metcalf

Is it open bowling up until Rock'n'Bowl starts? If so, then I like that idea. We could bowl a game or two and then relocate or retire. Do you want me to call them and double check?

I'd like to hang out with you guys but I can't bowl. The tendons in both of my arms are fragile from extreme guitar overuse for 25 years. My company Christmas party is on the 19th. I'd likely go out and have some beers on Saturday though.

hey, are spouses/significant others coming to this too?

Sorry I have slacked on the bowling alley details. Really shitty week...got a haymaker punch at work. Didn't even see it coming. Mr. Obama better get the train back on the tracks sooner than later.

I could use a night out. Just tell me when and where.

Based on the poll it looks like we are doing Saturday at Ward Parkway Lanes. There is open bowling until 9pm when Rock'n'Bowl starts. I thought we would shoot for a 7pm start time.
I had assumed it was just the boys. Reba went ahead and made other plans. Anyone else have any opinions on this matter?

Just checking in. The old bowling alley at Red Bridge and Holmes, I'm pretty sure, is now an industrial pharmacy. There used to be one off 71 in Hickman Mills, but we probably wouldn't want to go there. Really, if anybody wants to, I'd be OK with just going out to a bar and forgetting about bowling. Or, bowling at 7 at WPL. Whichever. I suck at bowling anyway.

sven said...

guess i'll chime in.
i'm okay with wpl @ 7, but my bowling will probably be limited to one game.
if we relocate, nearby bars include flo's poke-a-dot lounge (89 & wornall) and tommy farrah's (81 & wornall). cheap drinks.
thought i'd ask conan, sunday is his bday also.

Johnny, I'm leaving my spouse at home. But I'm asking Dave Kirsch to come along.

And just to be clear, I think to invite spouses would be to depart from our club's boys-rule-girls-drool philosophy, and so I say no chicks on bowling night.

Also, Eric, I'm really sorry to hear about that KCPT bullshittery, and I know I speak for everybody in saying that the He-Men stand ready to clasp you to our bosom (in a masculine, metaphorical sense) and condole with you on Saturday.
